The weather in Torres del Paine is quite varied. During the summer, (Jan-Mar) the weather is mild with low rainfall and many sunny days, although it is quite possible to experience a wide range of weather all in one day! A westerly wind means that the temperature can sometimes feel quite cold but find a suntrap and you will feel that the sun is extremely powerful here. The light in this area is sometimes quite unbelievable with views taking on quite different looks and feels from one day to the next.
During the winter (July-Sept) the temperature drops and there is snowfall in some regions of the park. The wind tends to drop during the winter months so you can experience some fabulous sunny but fresh days here. Winter is a good time to see wildlife. With snowfall in the higher regions animals such as the Puma move down from the mountains to the pampas to look for food.
The skies over the park can be spectacular. With the air being so clear and the light reflecting off glaciers make sure you take your camera with you!
